1848  The Courthouse was built for ten thousand dollars

1869  The First Methodist Church was erected. The same bell still hangs in the belfry. The town paper was established. "The Democrat" later called the Gleam. Public Waterworks was established.

1892  The Depot was constructed, and the first passenger train came through Guntersville.

1907  The first electricity came to Guntersville. Just after construction was completed, the building exploded. This gave the firemen their first chance to use their new hose.

1936  The old armory was built by the Works Progress Administration for $32,000.

1930  The old river bridge was constructed for $50,000. The bridge had a 50 cent toll.

1938  Two traffic lights were installed due to the towns rapid growth.

1949  The city organized a safety patrol.
         Television was also introduced in 1949.
